NBBF President Kida Commends Tinubu for Fulfilling Housing, Cash Reward Promise to D’Tigress

The President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), Ahmadu Musa Kida, has commended Bola Ahmed Tinubu for fulfilling the Federal Government’s pledge of houses and financial rewards to members of Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D'Tigress, following their victory at the FIBA Women's AfroBasket championship.
Kida gave the commendation during the presentation of certificates of ownership for the promised houses and national honours to players, officials, and management of the team in Abuja.
According to the NBBF president, the fulfilment of the pledge demonstrates the commitment of the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda to youth empowerment and sports development in Nigeria.
He noted that the gesture would encourage athletes across the country and inspire the next generation of sports talents to pursue excellence.
President Tinubu had earlier promised that each member of the victorious team would receive $100,000 and a house in Abuja as reward for their triumph at the continental championship and for bringing honour to the nation.
Kida also commended the leadership of the National Sports Commission, particularly its Chairman Shehu Dikko, and the Director-General Bukola Olopade, for their contributions to the growth and development of sports in Nigeria.
He expressed optimism that the support from the Federal Government would further motivate the Rena Wakama-led team to maintain its dominance on both African and global basketball stages.
Kida added that the recognition and rewards given to the players reaffirm government’s readiness to support sports as a strategic tool for national development and youth empowerment.
