Ramadan Tafsir, Speaker Jatau Urges Muslims to Sustain Spiritual Lessons

The Muslim community of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly has concluded its annual Ramadan Tafsir with a renewed call on believers to sustain the spiritual lessons and good deeds associated with the holy month.
Speaking at the closing session, the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau, urged Muslims to continue strengthening their faith through acts of worship and charity beyond the Ramadan period.
Represented by the Deputy Director of Administration and Supplies, Danladi Suleiman Gyabo, the Speaker emphasized the importance of maintaining the virtues of compassion, unity, and generosity cultivated during the fasting period.
According to him, the true value of fasting and prayers lies in supporting the vulnerable through almsgiving and demonstrating love for one another in society.
“The society is facing several challenges that have made many people vulnerable financially and otherwise. It is therefore important for Muslims to assist one another and continue to promote peace, unity and understanding,” he said.
The 2026 Ramadan Tafsir of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly commenced on Monday, February 23, at the Assembly Mosque and was formally brought to a close on Monday, March 16.
The Tafsir, a long-standing tradition among the Muslim community in the Assembly, features Quranic recitation, interpretation and commentary aimed at reminding believers of the core tenets of Islam and strengthening their spiritual commitment during the holy month.
Delivering the Quranic commentary, Islamic cleric Mallam Mohammed Mohammed Sarki urged Muslims to uphold justice, fairness and transparency in all their dealings, stressing the need to sustain the good deeds practiced during Ramadan.
He cautioned believers against engaging in negative acts and warned against associating partners with Allah, urging them to remain steadfast in their faith to earn divine rewards.
The cleric also encouraged Muslims to continue voluntary fasting in subsequent months as a means of strengthening their faith and attaining more spiritual blessings.
Special prayers were offered for the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, its leadership, the state government and the nation at large.
