The Federal Government has published a list of 15 individuals and companies allegedly involved in financing terrorism across Nigeria, marking a major step in its renewed campaign against extremist networks.
The list, released on Monday, followed months of coordinated investigations by multiple intelligence and security agencies tracking suspicious financial movements, logistics support, and cross-border transactions believed to be linked to terrorist activities.
Nine Individuals Named in Investigation
Those listed include:
- Tukur Mamu
- Yusuf Ghazali
- Muhammad Sani
- Abubakar Muhammad
- Sallamudeen Hassan
- Adamu Ishak
- Hassana-Oyiza Isah
- Abdulkareem Musa
- Umar Abdullahi
Authorities said findings were based on extensive monitoring of communication channels, cash transfers, and networks believed to sustain insurgent operations.
Six Companies Also Flagged
Six businesses—mainly Bureau De Change operators and trading firms—were also identified as part of the alleged financing networks:
- West & East Africa General Trading Company Limited
- Settings Bureau De Change Ltd
- G. Side General Enterprises
- Desert Exchange Ventures Ltd
- Eagle Square General Trading Company Limited
- Alfa Exchange BDC
Officials explained that strengthened supervision of Bureau De Change operations nationwide will follow, as intelligence reports show certain currency trading channels are vulnerable to exploitation for illicit financing.
Government to Enforce Asset Freezes, Account Restrictions
The Federal Government stated that account restrictions, asset freezes, and other enforcement measures will be implemented where necessary.
More names may be added in subsequent phases of the counter-terrorism financing campaign.
“This move is part of a broader national security strategy aimed at closing financial pipelines that enable terrorist cells to thrive,” a senior security official noted.
