In fulfillment of a pledge made during the last Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Week, Governor Abdullahi Sule has donated an 18-seater bus to the Lafia Branch of the NBA.
The vehicle, presented on behalf of the Governor by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Bar. Labaran Shuaibu Magaji, was handed over during a brief ceremony held at the Office of the SSG.
The donation is in recognition of the NBA’s support and its constructive role in fostering a smooth and dispute-free legal environment in Nasarawa State.
Bar. Magaji recalled that during the NBA’s courtesy visit to Governor Sule, a request was made for a vehicle to ease the association’s mobility challenges.
“Since then, we have worked quietly to see this fulfilled. Today, the Governor has delivered on his word,” he stated, describing the gesture as a symbol of appreciation for the NBA’s cooperation and professionalism.
Speaking at the event, the Honorable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Bar. Isaac Danladi, expressed gratitude to the Governor for his consistent support of the legal profession.
He emphasized the importance of proper documentation and formally presented the keys and allocation letter to the NBA leadership.
“This gesture could not have come at a better time, especially as the NBA prepares to attend its national conference in Enugu. His Excellency is truly a law-friendly governor who always matches words with action,” Danladi noted.
In his response, Chairman of the NBA Lafia Branch, Bar. Alaku Dennis Dauda, commended the Governor for fulfilling the association’s long-standing request. He praised both the SSG and the Attorney General for their tireless advocacy, which led to the actualization of the Governor's promise.
“We often struggle with transportation, particularly when visiting correctional centers or other legal duties. This bus will go a long way in supporting our professional obligations,” Dauda said.
The event was attended by senior government officials, directors from the Ministry of Justice, and members of the NBA Lafia Branch, all of whom expressed appreciation for the government’s responsiveness and commitment to the rule of law.
