Concerned Citizens Urge Gov. Sule to Create Ado Chiefdom in Karu LGA
Group says traditional institution will accelerate development and strengthen governance in Ado District

A group under the umbrella of the Concerned Citizens of Karu has appealed to Abdullahi Sule to approve the creation of Ado Chiefdom in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
The appeal was made in a statement issued in Abuja by Alhaji Sani Musa Mairiga, Secretary of the group, who said the creation of the chiefdom would promote development and strengthen traditional governance in the district.
According to Mairiga, Ado District, which has existed for more than a century and hosts a population estimated at over two million people, deserves official recognition through the establishment of a chiefdom.
He noted that the district is currently under the leadership of the Village Head, Mallam Zakari Salihu Ibrahim, who has been widely acknowledged for maintaining peace and stability in the area.
Mairiga explained that Ado has played a significant role in the economic and social growth of Karu Local Government Area, adding that granting the district a chiefdom would further unlock its development potential.
“Ado has been a major contributor to the growth and development of Karu Local Government Area and Nasarawa State.
It is only fair that the people receive the recognition they deserve through the creation of a chiefdom,” he stated.
The group further urged the state government to consider what it described as the long-standing demand of the people of Ado, stressing that the move would elevate the prestige of traditional institutions and bring government closer to the grassroots.
They also called on stakeholders, community leaders, and residents of the district to support the initiative, expressing confidence that Governor Sule would give the request favourable consideration.
Observers believe that if approved, the creation of Ado Chiefdom could attract more government attention to the area, particularly in the areas of infrastructure development, education, and healthcare services.
