A total of one hundred and twenty armed tactical Squad of the Nigeria Police have been deployed to Agwara and Borgu areas to tackle the incessant Banditry attacks on the Communities.
The Commissioner of Police in Niger State,CP Abdullahi Adamu Elleman made the disclosure while speaking with journalists in his office in Minna at the Weekend.
He said the Inspector General of Police,IGP Kayode Egbetokun directed the deployment of the squads to the communities as a result of the continued Banditry activities in the areas.
According to the Commissioner of Police,the Inspector General of Police is worried with the incessant activities of the terrorists group which necessitated the deployment of the squads.
“ Already,the IGP has directed the deployment of 120 armed tactical squads of the police to Agwara and Borgu to police the communities.
“ The armed tactical unit from the force headquarters have arrived in the communities. They were well received by the communities.
“They now take over the communities to safeguard the people of Agwara and Borgu for some time until these criminal elements are totally chased out of the communities
“ They have taken the security of communities because of the activities of these terrorist groups .With their presence of these tactical units as deployed by the IGP,by the grace of God Agwara and Borgu will now enjoy relative peace” CP Adamu Elleman assured .
Agwara and Borgu have suffered an unprecedented onslaught of the suspected terrorists in the last five months killing and kidnapping locals.
Borgu and Agwara Local Government, have been placed under heavy siege by these groups of dare-devil armed men who have been wrecking unprecedented havoc on the locals.
In November 2025 ,some heavily armed terrorist groups stormed a Catholic School and abducted over 150 students in Pampiri community of Agwara local government area along with their teachers.
Similarly, two prominent indigenes of Borgu Local Government Alhaji Alhassan Niwuro, and Barrister Ahmed Abdullahi are still in the captivity of some terrorist groups in the last eight months without any report about them.
It was reliably gathered that the sum of N70 million had been as ransom to the armed men for the release of these victims “ yet we have not heard anything from them. In fact three of them were abducted including their driver.
” They told the driver to go back but he told them he would not until they release his boss. They end up killing the driver for daring them” a sources closed to the family told the cabal in Minna .
