The Executive Chairman of the Nasarawa State Internal Revenue Service (NSIRS), Alhaji Ahmed Yakubu Mai-Sule, has announced the board’s readiness to partner with the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Nasarawa State chapter, to promote sporting activities in the state.
Mai-Sule made the disclosure during the unveiling of new sports facilities at the Revenue House along Jos Road, Lafia, as part of the board’s end-of-year activities.
He described sports as a unifying tool capable of fostering peace and strengthening social cohesion across all segments of society.
The unveiling ceremony, held at the NSIRS boardroom, also featured a donation of a set of jerseys to SWAN by the chairman, who doubles as the Dan Dakan Lafia.
He said the gesture underscores the organisation’s commitment to sports development and its desire to build a stronger partnership with the media body.
Receiving the items on behalf of the association, the SWAN State Secretary, Mr. Leo Abel, who represented the chairman, Mr. Smart George, expressed appreciation to the NSIRS leadership.
He noted that the support would go a long way in strengthening the cordial and mutually beneficial relationship between both institutions.
He assured that SWAN would continue to provide comprehensive media coverage for NSIRS whenever the need arises.
Meanwhile, a friendly football match between SWAN and NSIRS has been scheduled for Monday as part of activities to cement the partnership.
