The Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State (SSG), Dr. Shuaibu Labaran Magaji, SAN, has dismissed circulating claims questioning his indigeneship of the state and alleging that he diverted public funds to Niger State.
In a statement on Monday, Dr. Magaji described the accusations as baseless and misleading, noting that well-meaning individuals had drawn his attention to the false claims.
He reaffirmed that he is a proud indigene of Nasarawa State who has consistently worked to promote the state’s image at both the national and international levels through professionalism and commitment to public service.
“For the avoidance of doubt, I am a proud indigene of Nasarawa State. My dedication to its progress has always been unwavering,” he stated.
The SSG further emphasized that he has never been involved in the misuse, diversion, or misappropriation of public funds.
On the contrary, he said his career has been defined by efforts to hold those who misuse public resources accountable under the law.
“I have no intention of engaging in personal disputes over unfounded allegations. My track record and the testimonies of those who know me are sufficient proof of my integrity,” he added.
Dr. Magaji reiterated his commitment to contributing to the development of Nasarawa State with honesty, transparency, and accountability.
He assured citizens of his continued dedication to ensuring accessible governance, guided by best practices and civil protocols.
The SSG also expressed gratitude to all individuals who reached out to verify facts, expressed concern, or stood by the truth amid the misinformation circulating on social media.
“I felt compelled to make this clarification in the interest of transparency and accountability, and for the overwhelming majority of our good people of Nasarawa State,” he said.
