All schools including Federal Government-owned as well as private schools in Bauchi State have been directed to close temporarily following security concerns in order to safeguard the lives of school communities,
A statement signed and issued by Jalaludeen Usman, Information and Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Ministry of Education,which was distributed to reporters in Bauchi has said.
“This decision, though difficult, was taken by the Government of Bauchi State after extensive consultations and in response to overwhelming security concerns affecting the safety of students, teachers, and school communities across the state.
“The government is fully aware of the this may cause. However, the protection of our children remains our highest moral responsibility. Every student in Bauchi State deserves to learn in an environment that is safe, stable, and free of fear.
“We therefore call on parents, guardians, school proprietors, and all concerned stakeholders not to panic, but to remain calm and cooperative. The government is working closely with security agencies to address the concerns swiftly and comprehensively, ensuring that normal academic activities” resume as soon as it is safe to do so.
“We also urge citizens to remain vigilant. If you see something, say something. Timely information from the public is crucial in safeguarding our communities.”
The Bauchi State Government will continue to provide updates as the situation evolves, the atatement said
The Krestnews report that the Bauchi State Police Command, on Sunday, also confirmed the killing of five of its officers by bandits in Sabon Sara village, Darazo Local Government Area of the State.
According to a statement signed by the Information and Public Relations Officer of the Bauchi State Ministry of Education, Jalaludeen Usman, the closure of the schools across the state followed extensive consultations, and was taken in response to growing security concerns affecting the safety of students, teachers and school communities.
The statement noted that the government recognised the inconvenience the closure might cause, but stressed that the safety of children remained its key priority.
“However, the protection of our children remains our highest moral responsibility. Every student in Bauchi State deserves to learn in an environment that is safe, stable, and free of fear.” part of the statement read.
“We, therefore, call on parents, guardians, school proprietors, and all concerned stakeholders not to panic, but to remain calm and cooperative.”
The statement added, “The government is working closely with security agencies to address the concerns swiftly and comprehensively, ensuring that normal academic activities resume as soon as it is safe to do so.

The statement added that the government would continue to provide updates as the situation develops.
bandits attack three Bauchi villages
Meanwhile the two Federal tertiary institutions in Bauchi, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) and Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, have commended the State Government for taking proactive measures on security by directing for immediate closure of all schools, including Federal Government institutions in the state.
Speaking on the development, Director of Information, ATBU, Zailani Bappa, dismissed insinuations that the University was not ready to comply with the directive, saying that such insinuation was unfounded and uncalled.
According to him, “The directive had come at the right time when the University is already on break. Our students are not on campus, they on holidays and will not return until January 5th, 2026.”
Zailani Bappa added that, “Also, the Academic Staff have commemced their Six weeks annual leave on Tuesday 18th November, 2025. This means that both students and staff are already on holidays before the directive was announced.”
He further stated that, “As for our primary and secondary schools which are on sessions, the Principal has already given directives that all pupils and students should go back home today in compliance with the Bauchi State Government directive. This means that they are in full compliance with the directive.”
The ATBU Director of Information warned rumour mongers to desist from such misinformation and always verify issues before posting misleading information to the people via social media.
Also reacting to the development, Muhammad Rabiu Wada, Director, Information and Public Relations of the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, said that the Polytechnic is already on break for the session and will not resume academic activities until January 2026.
According to him, while speaking on telephone conversation, “The Governor is the Chief Security Officer of the State and security of our students and staff is paramount to us.”
He stressed that, “Even if the school had been in session, we would have closed the school immediately.
The government in their statement said that they are in consultation with security agencies, so we don’t have a reason not to comply.”
Muhammad Rabiu Wada stressed that, “We are in support of the Government on the issues of security, we don’t have options but to comply. The good thing is that the Polytechnic is not on session now
