Preparations are in top gear for the 2025 edition of the National Oyarore Salt Festival, scheduled to hold in Keana, Nasarawa State, from December 10 to 21, 2025.

The annual cultural event, which celebrates the rich heritage of salt mining and the historical significance of the Oyarore Salt Ponds, is expected to attract participants, tourists, and cultural enthusiasts from across Nigeria and beyond.

According to the organizers, this year’s edition promises to showcase the diverse cultural traditions, music, dance, and arts of the Alago people and other ethnic groups in Nasarawa State.

The festival will also feature economic exhibitions, lectures, and trade fairs aimed at promoting local entrepreneurship and cultural tourism.

The Keana National Oyarore Salt Festival has over the years served as a unifying platform for community interaction, cultural exchange, and socio-economic development.

It also underscores Keana’s unique identity as Nigeria’s foremost salt-producing town and a center of historical significance in Nasarawa State.

Stakeholders from government, traditional institutions, and the private sector are expected to participate in the 12-day celebration, which continues to position Keana as a hub of culture, tourism, and tradition in North Central Nigeria.
