SDP Disowns Solomon Akwashiki Over Alleged Support for Labaran Maku in Nasarawa North Bye-Election
State Chairman Musa Danlami says the party no longer recognizes member over alleged anti-party activities

The Nasarawa State chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has declared that Hon. Solomon Akwashiki is no longer recognized as a member of the party, citing his alleged anti-party activities during the recently concluded Nasarawa North Senatorial District bye-election.
The State Chairman of the party, Musa Danlami, disclosed this while addressing journalists in Lafia, saying the decision followed the party's assessment of Akwashiki's conduct during the bye-election.
According to Danlami, the SDP leadership accused Akwashiki of openly supporting Labaran Maku during the election instead of backing the party's candidate, an action he described as a clear violation of the party's constitution and principles.
He said the party viewed Akwashiki's alleged support for Maku as an act of disloyalty and anti-party activity that undermined the collective interest of the SDP and its electoral prospects in the Nasarawa North bye-election.
Danlami maintained that the party could not condone actions capable of weakening its unity and internal discipline, stressing that the decision to cease recognizing Akwashiki as a member was taken in the overall interest of the party.
"The SDP remains committed to discipline, loyalty and respect for its constitution. Every member is expected to work for the success of the party and its duly nominated candidates," he said.
The state chairman urged party members across Nasarawa State to remain steadfast, loyal and united as the party continues to reposition itself for future elections.
He reaffirmed the SDP's commitment to strengthening its structures, promoting internal democracy and ensuring that members adhere strictly to the party's constitution and leadership directives.
