Cleric Urges Nigerians to Live Righteously, Remember the Inevitability of Death

An Islamic cleric, the Deputy Chief Imam of Keana Central Mosque, Mallam Idris Ahmed, has urged Nigerians to amend their ways with God and fellow human beings, reminding them that death is inevitable and can come at any time.
The cleric gave the admonition on Sunday during the three-day prayer for the late Asma'u Adamu Omadefu, younger sister of Hon. Muhammed Adamu Omadefu, member representing Keana Constituency in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly.
Leading the prayers, Mallam Ahmed stressed that every soul would inevitably taste death and called on people to remain steadfast in the worship of God, uphold righteousness and maintain peaceful relationships with others.
He cited verses from the Holy Qur'an and Hadith, urging the faithful to live lives worthy of divine mercy.
He also prayed for Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant her Aljanatul Firdausi, and give her family the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
The immediate past Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, who attended the prayer session, described the late Asma'u as a caring, loving and devoted woman whose virtues endeared her to family members and the wider community.
He urged the bereaved family to accept her death as the will of Allah and continue to pray for the peaceful repose of her soul.
"We are in Keana to join our brother and friend, Hon. Omadefu, in mourning the loss of his beloved sister. She was a caring woman whose life touched many people.
Also speaking, the Majority Leader of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Suleiman Yakubu Azara, condoled with Hon. Omadefu and prayed that Allah would accept the trials the deceased endured during her prolonged illness as a source of mercy and forgiveness.
Responding on behalf of the family, Hon. Muhammed Adamu Omadefu expressed profound appreciation to Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, Hon. Suleiman Yakubu Azara, members of the State Assembly, religious leaders, political associates, friends and sympathisers for standing by the family throughout the period of bereavement.
The prayer session attracted prominent personalities, including the member representing Obi I Constituency in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Dr. Ibrahim Peter Akwe, the Special Adviser to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Legislative Liaison, Barr. Muhammed Ibrahim Alkali, serving and former public office holders, politicians, traditional and religious leaders, friends and associates of the family.
The event featured the complete recitation of the Holy Qur'an and special prayers for the peaceful repose of the soul of the late Asma'u Adamu Omadefu.
