35 Rescued from Suspected Boko Haram Captivity by Niger State Police

Men of the Anti kidnapping squad of the Niger State Police Command has rescued a total of thirty five victims of  suspected Boko Haram from some part of Niger state.

It was reliably gathered that the victims were seen in their large numbers along the riverbank of Agwara about boarding a canoe to ferry them across to Yauri in Kebbi state when their movement became suspicious the police were alerted.
It was further gathered that the Bokoharam  were also seen earlier along the same River bank on their way to Yauri  in Kebbi state "but as a result of the armed  in their possession we took to our heels" a source who pleaded for anonymity told this reporter.


The victims, mostly women and children, were rescued by the head of the command Anti kidnapping squad Mallam Ahmed Saidu DSP in what can be described as a well coordinated operation which lasted for closer to four hours.
The victims were said to have been in captivity for the past five years were rescued from the suspected   Boko Haram communities of Alawa Madaka, Gurmana both in Shiroro Sarkin Pawa in Munya and Rafi local government area of Niger State.

Among them Include some pregnant women and children were said to have been in captivity in the thick forest of  Madaka and Alawa.

The  Operatives of the squad, it was gathered received a distressed call on the strange movement of a particular women said to be a victim of the   Bokoharam who was said to have been in the den of  in the last five years.
It was observed that some of the rescued Victims were said to have gave birth while in captivity as some of them were nursing mothers with others with their little children between the ages of three and five years.

A visit to the state Criminal investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) headquarters in Minna by this reporter it was observed that the rescued women were being profiled for onward presentation to the Deputy governor Comrade Yakubu Garba who is the acting governor of Niger State.
Relatives of the resqued women besieged the police headquarters in jubilation commending the efforts of the Operatives of the State Anti kidnapping squad for rescuing the victims who were held captive  in the last seven years without any Hope of reuniting with them.

Recall that some men suspected to be men of Islamic State of West Africa Provide  (ISWAP) were sighted in Borgu Local government area of Niger State.

Already, some part of Borgu, Luma, Gunfati and Agwara are now being occupied by Men of ISWAP.
However, the state Commissioner of Police CP Adamu Abdullahi Ellenman could not be reach for comment.but a senior Police officer who neither confirm nor denied the report told this reporter that  " we speak to the press on this success we recorded in the Command"
