…Party warns public against dealing with expelled members
The Social Democratic Party has officially announced the expulsion of several prominent members over alleged anti-party activities and financial misappropriation.

In a public service announcement issued from the party’s National Secretariat and signed by Lawal Ibrahim, Special Adviser on Media to the National Chairman, Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam, the party said the decision followed resolutions reached during its 2026 National Convention held on May 20, 2026, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja.

According to the statement, those expelled from the party include Olu Agunloye, Adewale Adebayo, Sadiq Umar Abubakar, Joseph Achile Abu, Maggie Mariam Batubo, Sa’adatu Abdullahi, Rufus Ayienigba, Barr. Abimbola Aderami, Ugochukwu Uba, Hussani Bello, Alabi Lekan and Rosemary Effiong.

The party stated that the affected individuals are no longer recognized as members of the SDP and therefore lack the authority to act or represent the party in any capacity.

“The Party hereby disclaims any transaction, engagement, representation, or business conducted by or with these individuals in the name of the Social Democratic Party,” the statement noted.

The SDP further advised members of the public, stakeholders and relevant institutions to take note of the development and be guided accordingly.

The announcement is expected to generate reactions within Nigeria’s political landscape, especially as some of the affected individuals are prominent figures within the opposition party.
