The management of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), has refuted circulating rumors regarding the alleged discovery of a deceased newborn baby near the university premises.
In a press statement signed by the Acting Information and Protocol Officer, Jaafar Abdullahi Abubakar, the university clarified that a joint team comprising the Dean of Student Affairs and the university’s Security Unit was immediately dispatched to investigate the report upon receiving the information on Tuesday, June 10, 2025.
"The team thoroughly combed the area in question and found no trace of the alleged incident," the statement read.
The university emphasized that it is committed to ensuring the safety and dignity of its academic community and has launched a formal investigation to trace the source of the misinformation.
“This kind of rumor, whether substantiated or not, reflects poorly on our university community,” the statement noted, urging the public and students to desist from spreading unverified claims.
The university assured stakeholders that updates will be provided as the investigation progresses and encouraged all to rely solely on official communication channels for accurate information.
