ALGON Endorses Sule’s Choice of Wadada for 2027 Nasarawa Governorship Race

The Nasarawa State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has thrown its weight behind Governor Abdullahi Sule’s endorsement of Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada as the All Progressives Congress (APC) preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
Speaking during a press briefing in Lafia on Monday, the ALGON Chairman, Safiyanu, said the association, after extensive consultations with stakeholders at the grassroots, unanimously supports the governor’s decision.
Safiyanu noted that Nasarawa State has witnessed significant progress under the current government and stressed the need for continuity through a capable successor.
While acknowledging the competence of other aspirants within the party, the ALGON chairman urged them to demonstrate maturity, discipline, and loyalty as the party prepares for its primaries, emphasizing that party supremacy must prevail.
He further appealed to APC members to remain patient and united, noting that the party remains broad enough to accommodate diverse interests.
Reaffirming ALGON’s loyalty, Safiyanu commended Governor Sule for what he described as purposeful leadership and impactful governance over the past years, assuring him of the association’s continued support until the end of his tenure.
He added that the governor’s legacy would endure and expressed optimism that the state would continue on a path of peace, political stability, and economic growth under his successor.
