In a significant ruling, the court has issued a Certified True Copy of the Judgment invalidating the tenure elongation of the outgoing Local Government Chairmen in Rivers State.

The judgment mandates that the Rivers State Governor, the Rivers State Government, and the Attorney General of the state must not enforce the tenure elongation, as doing so would violate the oath of office which stipulates a three-year term from 17th June 2021 to 17th June 2024.

Additionally, the court has directed the Commissioner of Police to ensure that the council chairmen do not remain in office beyond 17th June 2024.
