2027 Elections: Amb. Abubakar Lawal Suleiman Calls on Youths to Reject Electoral Violence, Malpractices

Peace Ambassador Abubakar Lawal Suleiman, MAPSA, Rimi Uku, has called on Nigerian youths to shun all forms of electoral malpractice, violence, and other sharp practices as the country prepares for the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during an interactive meeting with a youth group in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, Amb. Suleiman urged young people to remain peaceful, responsible, and law-abiding throughout the electoral process.
He cautioned youths against allowing themselves to be used as instruments of violence, ballot snatching, vote-buying, intimidation, thuggery, or any other act capable of undermining Nigeria's democratic process.
"As the 2027 elections draw closer, youths must distance themselves from all forms of sharp practices and conduct themselves peacefully, responsibly, and lawfully throughout the electoral process.
The future of our democracy depends on your actions and commitment to peace," he said.
The peace ambassador stressed that elections should be seen as an opportunity for citizens to freely choose their leaders rather than a period for conflict and lawlessness.
He also urged political parties, candidates, security agencies, civil society organisations, traditional rulers, and religious leaders to work collectively towards ensuring peaceful, free, fair, and credible elections.
Some youth leaders who spoke during the interactive session commended Amb. Suleiman for his unwavering commitment to promoting peace, unity, and national cohesion through sustained awareness campaigns.
They pledged to take the message of peace to their respective communities, assuring him that they would educate fellow youths on the importance of unity, tolerance, and lawful conduct before, during, and after the 2027 general elections.
The youth leaders further reaffirmed their commitment to discouraging electoral violence, hate speech, and other forms of misconduct, stressing that lasting peace remains indispensable for democratic consolidation and sustainable national development.
The meeting ended with a renewed commitment by both the peace ambassador and the youth leaders to continue engaging young people across Nasarawa State in promoting peaceful coexistence and fostering a violence-free electoral process ahead of the 2027 general elections.
