The appointment, which takes immediate effect, was announced in a statement issued on Tuesday in Makurdi by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Zape Upaa.He said that Tanko was a former Supervisory Councillor in Makurdi local government and former elected Councillor representing North Bank Ward II.
He further said that he was expected to coordinate the speaker's political activities and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He said that after the appointment, Tanko described the opportunity as a call to greater service and expressed gratitude to the speaker for the confidence reposed in him.
He pledged to work closely with party leaders, political stakeholders, government appointees, youths, women and other support groups to build a formidable campaign structure capable of delivering victory for the speaker and Gov. Hyacinth Alia in the 2027 polls.
He said that Tanko also assured Emberga of his loyalty, dedication and commitment to the assignment, and promised to lead an inclusive, issue based and result.
oriented campaign that would further strengthen the All Progressives Congress (APC) across Benue.
He said that the DG urged party members and supporters to remain united and committed to the party's vision, and stressed that sustained grassroots mobilisation and collective effort would be critical to the APC's success in the forthcoming elections.
