Speaker Jatau Earns APC Confidence Vote Over Loyalty, Party Commitment
State Working Committee pays appreciation visit, urges aggrieved aspirants to emulate Speaker's acceptance of primary outcome
The Nasarawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has passed a vote of confidence in the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Danladi Jatau, praising his loyalty, maturity and unwavering support for the party and the administration of Governor Abdullahi Sule following the party's recently concluded primaries.
The commendation came on Monday when the State APC Chairman, Hon. Dr. Aliyu Bello, led members of the State Working Committee (SWC) on a thank-you and solidarity visit to the Speaker at his office in Lafia.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Bello said the party leadership deemed it necessary to appreciate the Speaker for accepting the outcome of the APC primary election for the Karu/Keffi/Kokona Federal Constituency in good faith, describing his conduct as exemplary and worthy of emulation.
According to him, despite not securing the party's ticket, the Speaker remained steadfast in his commitment to the APC, Governor Abdullahi Sule and all candidates who emerged victorious in the primaries.
"The Speaker has demonstrated uncommon loyalty, faith in God and commitment to the party. Rather than allow personal disappointment to divide the party, he has continued to identify with the APC and its leadership. This is leadership by example," Bello said.
The APC Chairman urged aspirants who were unsuccessful in the primaries to emulate the Speaker by accepting the outcome peacefully and working for the unity and success of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He stressed that political leadership is determined by God and advised party members against actions capable of overheating the political atmosphere, noting that there would be other opportunities to serve in the future.
Bello further described Dr. Jatau as a shining example of sportsmanship whose conduct should inspire other politicians to place the collective interest of the party above personal ambition.
Responding, Speaker Danladi Jatau expressed gratitude to the APC leadership for the visit and reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the party.
He said he had accepted the outcome of the primaries as the will of God and had already moved on, emphasizing that his priority remained the victory of the APC in the 2027 elections.
"I have accepted the outcome as the will of God because leadership comes from Him. I have moved on, and we should all work together for the victory of our great party," the Speaker stated.
Dr. Jatau also pledged to continue mobilising support across the state to ensure the APC records overwhelming victories in future elections, assuring the party leadership of his total commitment to its growth, unity and electoral success.
