The Campaign Spokesperson for the Nasarawa South Senatorial Campaign, Hajiya Maryam Osuza, has declared that the 2027 general election presents a unique opportunity for the people of the district to elect a leader capable of uniting the zone and providing quality representation at the National Assembly.
Addressing journalists during her inaugural press briefing in Lafia on Tuesday following her appointment, Osuza described her new assignment as a call to service, promising to champion an issue-based, peaceful and people-oriented campaign driven by competence, integrity and sustainable development.
She expressed appreciation to the senatorial candidate, Dr. Mike Omeri, OFR, for the confidence reposed in her, assuring him, supporters and stakeholders of her unwavering commitment to carry out the assignment with honesty, professionalism and dedication.
According to Osuza, the campaign is not merely about winning an election but about rebuilding public confidence in leadership and ensuring that the people of Nasarawa South have a strong and effective voice in national decision-making.
She identified youth unemployment, insecurity affecting farming communities, poor rural road infrastructure, inadequate support for women, and challenges in the education and healthcare sectors as major issues confronting the senatorial district, stressing that they require purposeful legislative intervention.
The spokesperson maintained that the district deserves a senator with proven competence, integrity, national acceptance and the capacity to attract meaningful development, insisting that Dr. Mike Omeri possesses the experience and leadership qualities needed to meet those expectations.
Osuza described Omeri, a former Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), as an accomplished public servant who has spent more than three decades building bridges across political, ethnic and religious divides while contributing to national development.
She added that numerous indigenes of Nasarawa State have benefitted from opportunities, mentorship and appointments facilitated through Omeri's extensive national network, noting that he has remained committed to the growth and progress of his home state.
She further stated that Omeri's leadership philosophy is rooted in inclusiveness, explaining that he sees the people of Awe, Doma, Keana, Lafia and Obi Local Government Areas as equal partners in the collective development of Nasarawa South, irrespective of religion, ethnicity or political affiliation.
Osuza assured the people that the campaign would remain peaceful, respectful and issue-driven, emphasizing that it would focus on practical solutions, competence, character and a clear vision for the future rather than politics of hatred, falsehood and division.
She called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, women, youths, professionals, artisans, farmers and students across the senatorial district to support Omeri's aspiration, saying the time had come to elect a leader with the experience, national goodwill and capacity to deliver effective representation and attract sustainable development to Nasarawa South.
The campaign spokesperson expressed confidence that, if elected in 2027, Dr. Mike Omeri would provide purposeful representation, strengthen unity across the district and advance the welfare and aspirations of the people.
