Nasarawa Pension Bureau Slams Oscar Keana Over Misappropriation Allegation, Issues 24-Hour Ultimatum

The Nasarawa State Pension Bureau has strongly refuted allegations of financial misappropriation leveled against its management by Oscar Keana, describing the claims as false, malicious, and misleading.
The Bureau, reacting to a viral video circulating on Facebook, said the accusations were baseless and aimed at tarnishing its image, noting that it has become necessary to clarify the issues to prevent the public from being misinformed.
In a statement issued by the Head of Public Relations Unit, Ibrahim Dawayya, the Bureau highlighted its achievements under the leadership of Alhaji Suleiman Musa Nagogo, particularly within the administration of Abdullahi Sule.
According to the statement, the Bureau has made significant progress in clearing pension backlogs, ensuring prompt monthly payments, and improving the welfare of retirees across the state.
The statement further disclosed that over ₦5 billion was approved in 2025 to settle outstanding gratuities, including arrears dating from 1999 to 2010.
It added that the Bureau has also introduced digital data management systems to enhance efficiency and transparency in its operations.
The management emphasized that pension payments are conducted quarterly for both state and local government retirees, with transparent procedures that include public announcements in print and broadcast media, as well as publication of beneficiaries’ names on official notice boards.
Challenging the accuser, the Bureau called on Oscar Keana to provide verifiable evidence, including names of alleged officials involved and details of properties purportedly acquired through illicit means.
“Failure to substantiate these claims will leave the Bureau with no option but to initiate legal action,” the statement warned.
The Bureau subsequently issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the accuser to present proof or tender a public apology through the same platform used to disseminate the allegations.
Reaffirming its commitment to accountability, the Bureau stated that its operations remain open to scrutiny by recognized media organizations and anti-corruption agencies.
It urged the public to disregard the allegations, describing the accuser as unreliable and prone to spreading false information.
The statement concluded with assurances that the Bureau will continue to maintain transparent, people-oriented policies, particularly in safeguarding the welfare of pensioners across Nasarawa State.
