In this exclusive interview, the Executive Secretary of the Nasarawa State Education Trust Fund (ETF), Abubakar Idris Adamu, speaks on his vision, policy direction, and commitment to transparency and accountability in line with Governor Abdullahi Sule’s anti-corruption stance.
Q: Congratulations on your appointment. What is your vision for the Nasarawa State Education Trust Fund (ETF)?
A: Thank you. My vision is to reposition the Education Trust Fund into a transparent, accountable, and result-driven institution that will significantly enhance the development of education in Nasarawa State.
We are committed to ensuring that every kobo allocated to the Fund is judiciously utilized for the benefit of our schools and students.
Q: What guiding principles will define your leadership?
A: Our operations will be anchored on transparency, accountability, and prudent management of resources.
These principles are in line with the policy direction of His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi Sule, who has consistently demonstrated zero tolerance for corruption.
We will ensure strict adherence to due process in all our activities.
Q: How do you intend to ensure accountability in the Fund’s operations?
A: We will strengthen internal control systems, enforce financial discipline, and adopt open and competitive procurement processes.
There will also be regular monitoring and evaluation of projects, while periodic reports will be made accessible to stakeholders and the general public to ensure openness.
Q: What are your immediate priorities for the ETF?
A: Our immediate priorities include improving educational infrastructure, supporting teacher development initiatives, and ensuring timely interventions in critical areas within the education sector.
We also intend to collaborate with key stakeholders to broaden the impact of the Fund.
Q: How will your administration align with Governor Sule’s development agenda?
A: We are fully committed to aligning our programs with the broader development agenda of the state government, particularly in strengthening the education sector as a foundation for sustainable development.
Our role is to complement government efforts and deliver measurable, impactful outcomes.
Q: What message do you have for the people of Nasarawa State?
A: I wish to assure the good people of Nasarawa State that we are committed to service, integrity, and excellence.
The Fund will operate with transparency and responsibility, and we will not betray the confidence reposed in us.
Together, we will build a stronger and more resilient education system for future generations.
