The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, Ph.D., has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to demonstrate absolute loyalty and support to Governor Abdullahi Sule and the leadership of the party, particularly regarding the choice of the party’s governorship flag bearer for the 2027 general elections.
Speaker Jatau made the call when he received members of the Nasarawa State Forum of Local Government Legislative Speakers from the 13 local government areas of the state at the Assembly Complex in Lafia.
The Speaker commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for his commitment to peace, unity and development in the state, urging party members and stakeholders to continue supporting the administration for sustained progress.
According to him, loyalty and unity within the party remain crucial in building consensus ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Whatever decision the Governor takes regarding who becomes the party’s governorship flag bearer will be our collective decision. We must remain loyal to the government and the party leadership and patiently await the Governor’s position,” he said.
Jatau also advised the forum not to openly declare support for any governorship aspirant at the moment, stressing the need for discipline and cohesion within the party structure.
He further encouraged the local government speakers to emulate the state legislature by maintaining strong synergy with their respective local government executives to promote peace, unity and development across their councils.
The Speaker urged them to diligently perform their legislative and oversight functions, ensuring that funds appropriated in their annual budgets are judiciously utilized for the benefit of the people.
Earlier, Chairman of the Forum and Speaker of Lafia Local Government Legislative Council, Hon. Muhammad Shuaibu Madaki, described Dr. Danladi Jatau as one of the most effective Speakers the state has produced.
He commended Jatau’s leadership style and the stability recorded in the Seventh Assembly under his watch.
The forum subsequently passed a vote of confidence on the Speaker, citing his commitment and outstanding performance in piloting the affairs of the state legislature.
In a related development, Speaker Jatau also received members of the Power Bike Riders Association of Nigeria, Nasarawa State Chapter, who visited him at the Assembly Complex.
Addressing the group, the Speaker said politics should primarily be about service to the people and development of society.
He also acknowledged calls by various groups urging him to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Keffi, Karu and Kokona Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections.
“Leadership comes from God. I appreciate your encouragement and support, and I urge you to continue working hard for the progress of our people,” he stated.
Speaker Jatau expressed gratitude to the association for recognising him with an award for outstanding leadership, community development and selfless service, assuring that he would continue to serve with dedication.
President of the association, Maiwada Sidi, said the delegation visited the Speaker to congratulate him on his emergence as Deputy National Chairman of the APC Speakers Forum in the North Central zone.
He described Jatau as a grassroots politician with strong leadership qualities and pledged the association’s support for his future political aspirations.
The group also formally presented the Speaker with an award of outstanding leadership and unwavering support for community development and selfless service.
