Federal High Court to Deliver Judgment on April 22 in FOI Case Involving Ayuba Umar and Nasarawa State Government
By Suleiman Abubakar Rimi Uku Lafia

The Federal High Court has scheduled April 22, 2026, for judgment in the Freedom of Information (FOI) case filed by Ayuba Umar against the Nasarawa State Government.

The state’s defense team was led by Honourable Attorney General, Barr. Isaac A. Danladi, and included Barr. Raymond Anzaku Umaru and Barr. Zainab Nagogo.

In court, the Nasarawa State Government argued that the information requested by the applicant falls under categories that public institutions are legally prohibited from disclosing, as it contains sensitive personal and private details of students.

The government also raised a preliminary objection challenging the competence of the suit.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the court adjourned for judgment, which is set for April 22, 2026, marking a significant moment in the ongoing legal dispute over access to public information in the state.
