Lafia Governor Abdullahi Sule, the immediate past Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, alongside some serving and former lawmakers as well as senior government officials, are currently in Saudi Arabia performing the lesser Hajj, popularly known as Umrah.
The prominent citizens of Nasarawa State travelled earlier this week to the holy land and have since Tuesday been engaged in various spiritual exercises and religious rites as part of their pilgrimage obligations.

Umrah is a sacred pilgrimage undertaken by Muslims from across the world to the holy cities of Mecca and Medina. Unlike the major Hajj pilgrimage, Umrah can be performed at any time of the year and usually lasts between a few days and a week, depending on the pilgrims’ itinerary.

The visit by the Nasarawa State delegation is considered particularly significant as it coincides with the holy month of Ramadan, a period regarded by Muslims as a time for deeper devotion, prayer and spiritual reflection.

Observers note that the pilgrimage comes at a crucial time when the state seeks continued peace, unity and understanding among its people, especially ahead of future political activities and elections.

Islamic scholars often emphasize that performing Umrah during Ramadan carries immense spiritual rewards.

Many believers therefore seize the opportunity to undertake the pilgrimage during the sacred month in pursuit of greater blessings.
Prayers have continued to pour in from well-wishers across Nasarawa State, asking Almighty Allah to accept the supplications of Governor Sule, the former Speaker and other members of the delegation, and grant them a safe return home.
