Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Keana Local Government Area of Nasarawa State have unanimously endorsed the decision of the State Executive Council to adopt consensus as the mode for electing party officials in the forthcoming congresses.
The resolution was reached during an emergency stakeholders’ meeting held on Sunday at the United Nations House in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.
Addressing journalists shortly after the meeting, the member representing Keana Constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Muhammad Adamu Omadefu, disclosed that party stakeholders across the ten electoral wards of the local government area have aligned themselves with the state leadership’s decision.
He explained that adopting consensus would ensure peaceful, transparent, and seamless congresses while strengthening unity within the party ahead of future political engagements.
“This decision is aimed at ensuring peaceful congresses, unity among members, and the overall development of the party and Nasarawa State. Consensus will further consolidate our strength and position the party for greater success beyond 2027,” Omadefu stated.
The lawmaker dismissed rumours suggesting that congress guidelines had not been released, as well as speculations of possible imposition of candidates, describing such claims as unfounded and misleading.
He reaffirmed his commitment to fostering unity, cooperation, and inclusiveness among party members, noting that collective efforts remain crucial to sustaining the APC’s dominance in the state.
Hon. Omadefu, who also serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Housing and Environment, said the meeting reviewed the performance of the administration of Governor Abdullahi Sule and applauded the Governor’s strides in infrastructural development and governance.
Stakeholders who spoke during the meeting commended Hon. Omadefu for his sincerity, leadership style, and dedication to promoting unity and cohesion within the party, describing his approach as instrumental to the growth and stability of the APC in Keana Local Government Area.
The meeting attracted key party leaders, elders, and stakeholders from all ten electoral wards of Keana LGA, reaffirming their collective resolve to support the party’s consensus arrangement and strengthen its internal democracy.
