Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation ENDURING PEACE (JTF OPEP), have neutralised a suspected kidnapper and arrested three alleged informants during a security operation in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The incident occurred on December 15, 2025, when troops, acting on credible intelligence, responded to a reported kidnapping attempt in Dong community.

On arrival, the troops engaged the criminals, forcing them to abandon their initial plan and flee the area.

While retreating, the suspects reportedly moved to a nearby community where they abducted four persons.

Troops immediately mobilised in pursuit and engaged the kidnappers in a gun battle, during which one of the suspects was neutralised.

Items recovered from the neutralised kidnapper included one AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and four rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

In addition, three suspected informants believed to be aiding the kidnappers were arrested.

Efforts are ongoing to rescue the abducted victims and apprehend other members of the criminal syndicate.

The Joint Task Force reassured residents of Plateau State and the entire Joint Operations Area of its continued commitment to protecting lives and property.

The force emphasized that troops remain vigilant and resolute in combating all forms of criminality to ensure lasting peace and security in the state.
