The Nasarawa State Internal Revenue Service (NSIRS) on Monday emerged champions of the 2025 Revenue Service Novelty Football Competition after a convincing 3–0 victory over the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Nasarawa State Chapter.
The final, played at the Lafia City Stadium, saw the Revenue Service team assert dominance from the early stages, netting the opening goal midway into the first half.
Addressing journalists after the match, NSIRS Executive Chairman, Ahmed Yakubu Mohammed, said the novelty game was organised to strengthen unity and promote cordial working relations between the Service and sports journalists in the state.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Lafia Local Government Area, Mohammed Haliru Arabo, praised the initiative, noting that sporting engagements of this nature help to build institutional harmony and support government development efforts.
At the end of the encounter, the NSIRS team was presented with the championship trophy and gold medals, while SWAN received a silver trophy, a football and other consolation prizes. The event was witnessed by the Chairman of the Nasarawa State Football Association (FA), Salisu Galadima Basira, senior officials of NSIRS, and other dignitaries from across the state.
