The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has pledged to strengthen collaboration with the Nasarawa State Market Bureau to address manpower shortages and ensure full budget implementation ahead of the 2026 fiscal year.
Chairman of the House Committee on Capital Market, Commerce and Industry, Hon. Ibrahim Abdullahi Sa’ad, gave the assurance on Wednesday when the management of the Bureau appeared before the committee for the defence of its 2026 budget.
Hon. Sa’ad commended the Bureau’s performance in market management across the state and urged it to intensify efforts to meet projected targets in the coming year.
Defending the budget, Director General of the Bureau, Ahmad Ubangari, expressed appreciation for the committee’s continuous support but highlighted the Bureau’s struggle with inadequate staffing in several markets.
He appealed for legislative backing to enable the proposed budget to scale through and to ensure efficient revenue generation and service delivery in 2026.
Also appearing before the committee, the State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Hon. Muhammed Sani Ottos, defended his ministry’s 2026 budget and lauded the committee for its sustained support.
