Bayelsa Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, was on Thursday rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa, after collapsing in his office around 1:30 pm, triggering panic within Government House.
According to reports, staff and security aides quickly moved him to the hospital, where doctors immediately attended to him at the emergency unit before he was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit for close observation.
Hospital sources confirmed that he has been stabilised, though the exact cause of the health scare has not been officially disclosed. Close associates, however, hinted that it might be stress-related, noting that the deputy governor had been operating under a tight schedule in recent weeks.
Security personnel have cordoned off parts of the hospital as top government officials continue to visit. Efforts to reach his media aide were unsuccessful, but medical personnel say he is receiving adequate care and remains in stable condition.
