The wife of speaker house of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, Fatima Abbass  Tajuddeen's  Foundation has embarked on a free eye care outreach program targeting 2,000 patients with various vision problems in Zaria Federal Constituency, Kaduna State on

The initiative, aimed at providing quality eye care services to underserved communities, kicked off with a team of experienced ophthalmologists and optometrists conducting comprehensive eye screenings and providing treatment for various eye conditions.

Speaking at the flag up of exercise at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital on Tuesday, the foundation's representative, Barrister Aminu Ramalan  emphasized the importance of eye health and the need for regular eye examination.

He said the outreach being conducted at ABU Teaching Hospital, tudun wada Zaria would  last for six days.

He said the founder, Hajiya Fatima Tajuddeen Abbas was so concerned on the health status of the constituents especially women, children and the aged.

Ramalan added that the 2,000 patients screened for the exercise were vulnerable and downtrodden people, "which were mainly the concern of the founder."

"You know Hajiya Fatima, fondly called the Tauraruwar Iya is a woman with special heart that's is so concern with health status of the people, that's why she rolled out this program to cater for the less privileged and vulnerable persons in the society. Rayyan explained.

In his remarks, Chairman, Zaria local government area, Engineer Jamil Ahmad Muhammad JAGA said the outreach program would provide free eye screening, medication, prescribed glass and surgery for eligible patients.

He explained that beneficiaries were selected from all the 13 Political  wards of the area to ensure fairness.

Jaga said the six days exercise might be extended by the Founders if the need arises.

Speaking on the conduct of the exercise, the head of the medical team, Dr. Kamilu Sale assured that his team was committed to providing quality eye care serviices to the community. 

He added "We will conduct thorough eye screenings, provide medication and perform surgeries where need be as directed by the Convener of the program, Wife of the Speaker House of Representatives, Hajiya Fatima Tajuddeen Abbas".

Dr.  Saleh further stated that the outreach was expected to benefit residents of Zaria and surrounding communities and urged those with vision problems to take advantage of the Hajiya Fatima's foundation free services to improve on their health status.

He pointed out that the foundation has  also collaborated with medical team from the Republic of Turkey.

Speaking on exercise a beneficiaries, Hajiya Fatima Umar expressed her gratitude, saying "I'm so grateful for this initiative I have been struggling with my vision for months and this is a blessing. Thank you Fatima Tajuddeen Abbas Foundation, for bringing this service to our community."

Another beneficiary, 12-year-old Ahmed Musa, said, "I couldn't see the blackboard clearly, but now I can. Thank you, doctor, for helping me."

"I have been living with cataract for years, and I couldn't afford surgery. This program is a lifesaver," said 65-year-old Mallam Ibrahim Ali.

"I brought my children for eye screening, and they were diagnosed with eye problems. We are grateful for the free treatment and medication," said Mrs. Zainab Suleiman"
