In a strategic move to strengthen collaboration between government and the traditional institution in Bauchi, the state Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad has held a closed-door meeting with the six first-class Emirs of the state at the council chamber Government House, Bauchi.
This was contained in a press release signed and issued by the Senior Special Assistant on Communications to the Governor Bala Muhammad, Comrade Abdulwahab Muhammad a copy of which was made available to Rimawaglobalnews in Bauchi.
The release stated that the meeting was convened at the instance of the Governor and was honoured by all the six first class emirs in the state, they includes Bauchi emir, Alhaji Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu, Katagun emir, Alh. Umar Faruk II, Misau emir Alh. Ahmad Sulaiman, Jama'are emir Alh. Nuhu Ahmad Wabi, Ningi emir Alh. Haruna Yunusa Danyaya and Dass emir Alh. Usman Bilyaminu Othman respectfully.
Speaking after the meeting, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Aminu Hammayo, said the engagement formed part of ongoing consultations with traditional leaders, particularly in light of the recent creation of additional emirates and district heads in the state.
“The Governor emphasised the need for synergy between the government and the traditional institution to ensure smooth integration and effective governance,” Hammayo stated.
“It was a fruitful discussion that reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to preserving the dignity and relevance of our royal fathers.” The statement read
Governor Muhammad urged the Emirs to continue to operate within the confines of the law and to support the government’s efforts in promoting peace, unity, and development across Bauchi State.
The meeting underscores the administration’s recognition of the traditional institution as a vital partner in governance, grassroots mobilization, and community development.
Meanwhile only recently. Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad signed into law the Chieftaincy Appointment and Deposition Law, establishing 13 new emirates and over 111 district heads across the state.
The newly created emirates include Burra, Duguri, Dambam, Bununu, Lere, Darazo, Jama’a, Lame, Toro, Ari, Warji, Giade, and Gamawa.
The governor also signed the repeal of the Sayawa Chiefdom and the enactment of the Zaar Chiefdom Law, with its headquarters at Mhrim Namchi in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area.
During the signing ceremony at Government House, Bauchi, Gov. Bala Muhammad warned against politicizing or obstructing the implementation of the laws.
“This administration will not tolerate any attempt to undermine, obstruct, or politicize these reforms. Anyone found inciting division or disrupting public peace will face the full weight of the law,” he stated.
