Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, on Wednesday led the groundbreaking of the 400 million USD Hasstins Rare Earth and Critical Metals Processing Plant in Uke, Karu Local Government Area, on behalf of Governor Abdullahi A. Sule.
The event was attended by the State Commissioner for Education, Dr. John W. D. Mamman, who hailed the project as a major boost to the state’s push for science, technology, and innovation-led development.
Senior government officials, members of the State Executive Council, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Labaran Magaji SAN, and traditional rulers including the Etsu Karu, the Yakanaje Uke, and the Odyong-Nyankpa were also present, alongside federal representatives.
The project is set to strengthen industrialisation, expand economic activities, and cement Nasarawa State’s position in Nigeria’s emerging critical minerals sector.
