The Chairman of the Nasarawa State Disability Rights Commission, Comrade Sale Barde Keana, has paid a solidarity and working visit to the Honorable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Isaac Danladi, at the Justice House, Lafia.
Receiving the delegation, Barrister Danladi described the visit as a step in the right direction, assuring the Commission of the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to promoting inclusivity and justice for persons with disabilities.
“As a Ministry, we shall continue to work in synergy with the Commission to ensure that whatever is due to it gets to the Commission without hindrance,” Danladi stated.
The Attorney General, who is regarded as the number one legal luminary in the state, also reaffirmed that the Ministry of Justice played a significant role in the establishment of the Disability Rights Commission, stressing that his office would continue to strengthen collaboration in advancing the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities in Nasarawa State.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the Disability Rights Commission, Comrade Sale Barde, appealed to the Attorney General to intervene in ensuring the full implementation of the five percent employment quota for qualified persons living with disabilities in the state civil service.
“We are appealing for the intervention of your office to ensure that the 5% employment opportunity for qualified persons with disabilities is enforced in the state’s workforce,” Comrade Barde said.
He also called for improved access to public buildings, institutions, and social amenities for people living with disabilities, to enhance their participation in public life.
While commending Governor Abdullahi Sule for his inclusive leadership style, Comrade Barde expressed deep appreciation for the Governor’s approval of free education for all persons living with disabilities in Nasarawa State.
“We sincerely appreciate His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi Sule, for his unwavering commitment to inclusive governance and for granting free education to persons living with disabilities across the state,” he added.
