Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, has declared Thursday, 30th and Friday, 31st October, 2025, as work-free days across the state to enable citizens to participate fully in the forthcoming Local Government Elections scheduled for Saturday, 1st November, 2025.
A statement signed by Lawal Tanko, Information Officer, SSG’s Office, said the decision was aimed at giving all eligible voters the opportunity to travel to their respective polling units and exercise their civic rights without hindrance.
According to the statement, markets, banks, financial institutions, and public offices will remain closed on both days, while the movement of persons and vehicles will be restricted, except for those on essential duties.
The government, the statement added, is encouraging citizens to come out en masse to perform their civic responsibilities, emphasizing that the elections offer another opportunity for Nigerlites to elect capable leaders who will drive development and represent collective interests at the grassroots.
Governor Bago, the statement continued, has directed all security agencies in the state to ensure that the elections are conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to ensuring a safe, credible, and hitch-free electoral process.
