My attention has been drawn to a video currently circulating online, featuring two individuals—Oscar Keana and Hassan Hamza (popularly known as Hassan Principal)—making comments concerning the recent appointment of the APC National Chairman. Notably, the video attempts to link His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi Sule, to an alleged conspiracy against Distinguished Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.

As someone who has worked closely with Senator Al-Makura and understands both his values and mindset, I feel compelled to set the record straight.

Let it be categorically stated that Senator Al-Makura has never, at any time, accused Governor Abdullahi Sule or any APC leader of working against him in relation to the party’s national leadership. On the contrary, Senator Al-Makura is a man of deep faith who believes leadership is ordained by God and that power is granted solely by His will.

The views expressed by Oscar Keana are entirely his personal opinions. While he is entitled to them, they in no way reflect the mindset or position of Senator Al-Makura. The Senator has neither authorized nor endorsed such sentiments.

It is equally unfortunate that Hassan Hamza, in his response, chose to drag Senator Al-Makura’s name into a narrative that is both misinformed and unnecessary. His attempt to suggest that the former governor is being "punished" for his achievements in office displays a clear misunderstanding of governance and political processes. If that logic were to be followed, then all of us—including Hassan himself—who have benefitted from Senator Al-Makura’s legacy, such as the implementation of the minimum wage and various infrastructural developments, must also be "punished." Clearly, this notion is baseless and absurd.

Let me emphasize here that Senator Al-Makura bears no grudge against anyone concerning the APC National Chairmanship. He contested for the position as a loyal party man, exercising his democratic and constitutional rights. Since the outcome, he has accepted it with grace, remained loyal to the party, and has continued to move forward with dignity.

More importantly, Senator Al-Makura has always enjoyed a very cordial and respectful relationship with both the past and current governors of Nasarawa State. He will never engage in or support actions that would spoil the peace and mutual respect that exists among leaders in the state. He understands the value of political stability and has always placed the interest of the state above personal or partisan sentiments.

It is therefore inappropriate for individuals seeking attention or political validation to use Senator Al-Makura’s name as a stepping stone. He is not one to engage in unnecessary drama or promote disunity.

With due respect and a sense of responsibility, I call on all well-meaning stakeholders and party members to refrain from misrepresenting Senator Al-Makura’s intentions or dragging his name into unfounded narratives. He remains deeply committed to the progress of Nasarawa State and the unity of our great party, the APC.

Senator Al-Makura continues to hold everyone in high esteem, as a leader who values social harmony and mutual respect.

Alhassan Adamu Hussaini.
