The Nasarawa State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Isaac Danladi, has paid a humanitarian visit to the Nasarawa State Children’s Home in Lafia to assess the welfare of Maryam Adamu, a young woman who recently gave birth to triplets.
Maryam Adamu had accused one Salisu Sarkin Zane of Keffi, in Keffi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, of being responsible for the pregnancy.
Reports indicate that Salisu Sarkin Zane is currently on the run, allegedly to evade prosecution.
The Attorney General was accompanied on the visit by the Chairperson of the FIDA branch of the Ministry of Justice and Director of the Public Defender/Agenda on Gender-Based Violence, Barrister H. H. Abubakar, alongside other members of the association.
During the visit, Barrister Danladi disclosed that the FIDA branch of the Ministry of Justice would provide the necessary legal and welfare assistance to Maryam Adamu and her triplets.
He commended the management and staff of the Children’s Home for their dedication, noting that the intervention aligns with the state government’s responsibility to protect vulnerable persons.
He described Governor Abdullahi Sule as a leader driven by humanity and compassion, stressing that the present administration remains committed to the protection of women, children, and the less privileged across Nasarawa State.
Barrister Danladi further assured that due legal processes would be followed, including the conduct of a DNA test, to establish the true paternity of the triplets and ensure that appropriate legal measures are taken in accordance with the law.
In a show of commitment, the Honourable Attorney General donated an undisclosed sum to support the upkeep of the children and to facilitate the conduct of the DNA test.
Officials of the Nasarawa State Children’s Home commended the Attorney General for the visit, describing him as a fatherly figure whose concern reflects the government’s genuine commitment to child welfare.
They also acknowledged the sustained support of the state government in the running of the home.
Speaking during the visit, Maryam Adamu expressed her gratitude to the Attorney General, Barrister H. H. Abubakar, and members of the FIDA branch of the Ministry of Justice for their timely intervention and support, noting that the gesture has given her renewed hope that justice will be served.
