Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, has joined millions of Nigerians in mourning the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as “a great man and an epitome of honesty.”
In a statement made available to the press, Governor Sule expressed profound sorrow and a deep sense of national loss following the news of the former president’s death.
“The late President Muhammadu Buhari was not just a leader; he was a towering symbol of honesty, discipline, and unwavering commitment to the Nigerian project,” the statement read.
According to Governor Sule, the former president lived a life defined by integrity, patriotism, and simplicity, serving Nigeria with uncommon courage and selflessness. He noted that Buhari earned widespread admiration both at home and abroad.
The Governor recalled Buhari’s close and heartfelt connection with the people of Nasarawa State, saying:
“He was more than a leader to us — he was a father figure, a friend to the people, and a guiding light to many leaders across generations.”
Governor Sule added that as Nigeria mourns the passing of this rare patriot, the people must take solace in the fact that he lived a life of purpose, honour, and deep conviction.
He offered prayers for the repose of the former president's soul, asking Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds, and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
“Nigeria has lost a statesman, but his legacy of service, truth, and discipline will forever endure,” Sule declared.
He further prayed for comfort and strength for the bereaved family, associates, and the nation at large during this moment of immense grief.
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. May Allah grant Baba His Rahama and make Aljannatul Firdaus his eternal home. Ameen.”
