They made this known during a press briefing held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.
The group criticized the announcement made at the residence of Mr. Francis Orogu, which purportedly endorsed a particular aspirant.
They described the development as misleading, self-serving, and lacking due consultation with key party stakeholders.
In a statement presented by the Chairman of the Forum, Comrade Jibrin Idris Ibrahim, the stakeholders insisted that the PDP in Nasarawa State has not officially adopted any aspirant for any elective position.
“We insist that no aspirant has been adopted by the PDP Nasarawa State Chapter as the sole candidate for any elective position,” the group declared.
They emphasized that the PDP is built on the ideals of democracy, fairness, and inclusiveness, and that all party processes must be guided by transparency and the rule of law as enshrined in the party's constitution and the Electoral Act.
Key Resolutions:
1. Rejection of Sole Adoption: The forum categorically rejected the so-called consensus endorsement, stating that it does not represent the will of the majority of PDP members in the state.
2. Call for Party Discipline: The stakeholders called on the PDP State Working Committee to sanction Mr. Francis Orogu and others involved in the alleged manipulation for undermining internal democracy.
3. Level Playing Field: They urged the party leadership to reaffirm its commitment to providing a fair platform for all aspirants across the 13 LGAs.
4. Appeal to Aspirants: All aspirants were encouraged to continue consultations with party members and remain focused as preparations for the primaries continue.
A Call for Unity and Vigilance
The group called on PDP members and supporters across Nasarawa State to remain calm, united, and alert against any attempt to hijack the party's democratic processes.
“The 2027 elections are critical. We must not allow internal sabotage or desperate schemes to derail our progress,” the statement read.
Media Engagement and Closing Remarks
The forum urged media practitioners to help set the records straight and not be used to propagate falsehoods or advance the interests of a privileged few.
“The PDP in Nasarawa State belongs to all of us. The journey to reclaiming leadership requires openness, unity, and adherence to democratic values,” the forum concluded.
