Ahead of the 2027 general elections, a coalition of 120 youth groups from Lafia and Obi Local Government Areas has called on the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Aminu Mua’zu Maifata, to contest for the House of Representatives.
The youth groups, drawn from various political and socio-cultural platforms, made the appeal during a solidarity gathering in Lafia, where they unanimously endorsed Maifata to represent Lafia/Obi Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.
Spokesperson of the coalition, Comrade Umar Adi, said the endorsement is based on Hon. Maifata’s proven record of leadership, accessibility, and grassroots development.
“Hon. Maifata is a man of integrity, capacity, and commitment to service. As Commissioner and former Lafia Council Chairman, he has demonstrated what purposeful leadership looks like.
We are calling on him to answer the people’s call and offer himself for higher service,” Adi stated.
The group emphasized the urgent need for experienced and people-oriented leaders at the federal level, noting that Maifata’s administrative and political background makes him a fitting choice for the task.
While Hon. Maifata is yet to officially declare his intention, the growing endorsements suggest increasing momentum for his potential candidacy in 2027.
