Bauchi state government has directed the Ministry of Agriculture to commence the sales of fertilizers at a subsidized rate of N20,000, aiming to boost agricultural productivity and support farmers struggling with high production costs.
The State Commissioner of Information and Communication, Hon. Usman Shehu Usman Zirami made the disclosure while briefing Journalists at the end of the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting held at the council chamber government house, Bauchi
He said the move is expected to support farmers in their wet season farming activities which will in turn, boost agricultural productivity in the State.
Commissioner Zirami also disclosed that to promote patriotism and preservation of identity, Government has declared plans to develop a State Anthem and logo, aimed at restoring its lost glory in tourism and culture.
He explained that the proposed State anthem and logo will help inculcate a sense of pride and belonging among citizens, serving as symbols of unity and identity for the people.
Zirami noted that the proposed anthem and logo will be designed to reflect the State’s values, culture, and history, making them a unique representation of Bauchi’s identity.
According to him, the proposal is in tandem with the Administration’s continued commitment to having a new Bauchi State as embodied in the #MyBauchiproject agenda of the Governor, Sen Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad.
According to Hon Zirami “The development of a State Anthem and Logo will help inculcate a sense of pride and belonging among the Citizens.”
In a related development, the Government has disclosed that it has plans to address land encroachment at the Lame Bura Game Reserve, citing security concerns arising from the encroachment, which has turned the reserve into a hideout for criminals.
The Government expressed its determination to adequately protect the Reserve from criminals who are currently using the vast forest as hideouts and ensure the safety of the entire environment.
Additionally, the Commissioner of Housing and Environment, Rt Hon Danlami Ahmad Kawule during the briefing disclosed that the State Government has ratified ongoing gully erosion control projects in Bauchi, Kirfi, and Alkaleri Local Government Areas.
The Commissioner emphasised that these projects aimed to address environmental challenges facing the people especially during the raining season which always comes with flooding leading to loss of lives and properties.
He stressed that the projects, when completed, will promote sustainable development and present an environmental impact that is positive.
Danlami Ahmad Kawule added that the initiatives are part of Governor Bala Muhammad’s efforts to promote development and environmental protection across the State.
