The leadership of the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN) has intensified efforts to uncover the circumstances surrounding the controversial death of Nigerian footballer, Abubakar Lawal, who until his passing played for Vipers Sports Club of Kitende, Uganda.
On Tuesday, PFAN President Tijani Babangida, MON; General Secretary Comrade Edema Fuludu, MON; and a member of the Benue State PFAN Executive Committee, Father Dennis, visited the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja.
Their visit was part of a follow-up to the petition earlier submitted to the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun.
During the engagement with Interpol operatives at FCID, PFAN, in collaboration with the late Lawal’s widow, presented fresh and useful information intended to assist the investigation.
The association expressed confidence that the Nigerian Police, in partnership with their Ugandan counterparts, will work diligently to unravel the mystery surrounding the young footballer’s untimely death.
PFAN reiterated its commitment to ensuring that justice is served and pledged continued support to Lawal’s widow.
The association emphasized the need for those responsible to be held accountable and for the widow to receive all the entitlements due to her late husband.
This renewed effort by PFAN reflects its dedication to the welfare, protection, and justice for Nigerian professional footballers both at home and abroad.
