In preparation for its 2025 Law Week, the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Lafia Branch, has commenced engagements with key stakeholders, beginning with a strategic courtesy visit to the Nasarawa State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Isaac Danladi.
Leading the delegation was the Branch Chairman, Barr. Alaku Denies Dauda, who reintroduced the team and underscored the importance of the visit, describing the Attorney General as an integral part of the NBA family.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Chairman of the 2025 Law Week Local Organizing Committee (LOC), Barr. Abdullahi Shuaibu Gayam, appreciated Barr. Danladi for his continuous support to the Bar over the years.
“You’ve always stood by us, even without prompt. Your involvement and encouragement have strengthened the morale of young lawyers across the branch,” Gayam remarked.
He went on to outline the activities for the 2025 Law Week:
Friday, May 23, 2025 – Juma’at Prayer
Saturday, May 24, 2025 – Health Walk from Lafia Township Stadium to High Court 6, to be led by the Attorney General
Saturday Evening – Friendly football match between NBA Lafia and NBA Keffi at Lafia Township Stadium
Sunday, May 25, 2025 – Church Service at Dunamis International Church
Monday, May 26, 2025 – Public Lecture and Interactive Session
In his response, Barr. Isaac Danladi welcomed the delegation warmly, expressing deep satisfaction with the planning and spirit behind the Law Week activities.
He described the NBA as a family he remains proud to be part of, despite his temporary absence due to his commitments in the sports sector.
“As legal professionals, we need to embrace both mental and physical exercises. All work and no play makes Jack—and Jacqueline—dull. This year’s activities are not only commendable but timely,” he stated.
In a symbolic gesture of encouragement, the Attorney General presented a FIFA-designed football to the NBA Lafia Branch, describing it as his personal contribution to “ginger” the branch’s participation and promote the spirit of healthy competition during the forthcoming football match.
“This ball represents more than sport. It symbolizes unity, energy, and the renewed spirit within the NBA Lafia Branch,” Barr. Danladi noted.
He also confirmed that the formal letter addressed to the State Governor had been duly transmitted and that a response would be communicated in due course.
The visit ended on a high note, with mutual expressions of solidarity and hope for a highly successful and memorable 2025 Law Week.
