The Katsina State governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita, has returned to the state following an overseas medical trip, according to a statement issued by his campaign spokesman, Abubakar Ahmed.
The statement said Senator Kaita had intended to make a low-key return, but the reception generated by his arrival reflected what it described as the popularity of the candidate and the interest of Katsina residents in political change.
According to the statement, shortly after his return, Senator Kaita travelled to Dutsin-Ma, where he attended the funeral prayer of Alhaji Sabe Hassan Makera, younger brother of prominent politician Alhaji Aminu Makera.
The deceased was also described as an uncle to Hon. Surajo Aminu-Makera, a close associate of Senator Kaita.
The campaign spokesman said Senator Kaita's return would enable the ADC to continue its campaign activities across Katsina State ahead of the forthcoming elections.
He said the party would sustain its mobilisation and engagement with voters across the state as its campaign activities resume.
The statement was signed by Abubakar Ahmed, Spokesman, Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita Gubernatorial Campaign, and dated September 28, 2026.
