Sule Has Never Directed Disbursement of LG Funds — Maifata

The Nasarawa State Commissioner for Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Aminu Mua'zu Maifata, has said Governor Abdullahi A. Sule has never directed the disbursement or utilisation of Local Government funds.
Maifata made the clarification while speaking at the commissioning of a road project constructed by the Chairman of Wamba Local Government Council, Hon. Ezekiel Musa Jaga.
He explained that the administration of Governor Sule has continued to respect the responsibilities of elected Local Government chairmen, giving them the opportunity to identify and execute projects that address the immediate needs of their respective communities.
According to him, the various development projects being undertaken by Local Government Councils demonstrate the importance of grassroots leadership in complementing the efforts of the state government.
The Commissioner commended Hon. Ezekiel Musa Jagam for the construction of the road, describing the project as an important intervention that would improve movement, accessibility and socio-economic activities within the benefiting communities.
He urged other Local Government chairmen across the state to emulate the Wamba Council Chairman by prioritising projects that have direct and lasting benefits for the people.
Maifata further called on residents to support their Local Government administrations and protect public infrastructure provided for the benefit of their communities.
He described Governor Abdullahi A. Sule as a "school of learning" for those working under his administration, saying the governor's leadership provides an opportunity for public officials to acquire experience and contribute positively to the development of Nasarawa State.
The Commissioner said the governor's administration remains focused on strengthening grassroots development and ensuring that government policies and programmes translate into tangible benefits for citizens.
He also emphasised the importance of accountability, transparency and responsible management of public resources at the Local Government level.
Maifata noted that development at the grassroots requires cooperation between Local Government authorities, traditional institutions, community leaders and residents.
He therefore encouraged council chairmen to continue engaging their communities, identify their most pressing needs and channel available resources toward projects capable of improving the quality of life of the people.
The commissioning of the road project, he said, was another indication that Local Government Councils could make meaningful contributions to infrastructure development when resources were properly utilised and leadership was focused on service to the people.
He congratulated the people of Wamba Local Government Area on the completion of the project and expressed optimism that more development initiatives would be recorded across the state.
