Dr. Ikrama Hassan: The Visionary Pioneer Transforming FUTH Lafia Into a World-Class Teaching Hospital

When the Federal University Teaching Hospital (FUTH), Lafia was established, expectations were high for the institution to become a centre of excellence in healthcare delivery, medical education, and research.

One of the latest achievements under his leadership is the installation of a German-made Siemens SOMATOM 64-slice Computed Tomography (CT) Scanner, regarded as one of the most advanced diagnostic imaging systems available in the North-Central geopolitical zone.
To ensure the effective utilization of the equipment, the hospital recently commenced a four-day intensive training programme for healthcare professionals on the operation of the CT scanner ahead of its formal inauguration.
In a demonstration of its patient-centred philosophy, the management approved free CT scan services for patients requiring various CT examinations during the training period.
The initiative not only supports practical learning for medical personnel but also provides significant financial relief to patients in need of advanced diagnostic services.
The Siemens SOMATOM 64-slice CT scanner represents a major leap in diagnostic medicine.
It delivers high-resolution images with speed and precision, enabling doctors to detect and manage complex conditions affecting the brain, chest, abdomen, spine, blood vessels, bones, and other vital organs with greater accuracy.
Beyond the acquisition of modern equipment, Dr. Hassan's administration has focused on strengthening clinical services, improving patient care, promoting staff development, and creating an environment that supports excellence in medical education and research.
