 Federal High Court adjourns hearing to July 23 as party supporters rally behind Angbazo

Former Minister of Environment, Barr. Mohammed Hassan Abdullahi, has filed a suit before the Federal High Court in Abuja challenging the emergence of Major General Nuhu Angbazo (Rtd) as the duly elected governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 Nasarawa State governorship election.

The case came up for mention on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, before Court 5 of the Federal High Court, Abuja.

At the proceedings, Barr. Sheriff Mohammed Sheriff announced his appearance for the plaintiff, Barr. Mohammed Hassan Abdullahi, who was not present in court.

Counsel to the first defendant, Major General Nuhu Angbazo (Rtd), was led by Pius Akubo (SAN), alongside other senior lawyers. Angbazo was present during the court session.

Legal representatives of the second defendant, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), were also in attendance, while the third defendant, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), was not represented.

After taking appearances, the court adjourned the matter to July 23, 2026, for hearing.

Meanwhile, a large number of ADC members from Nasarawa State attended the proceedings in a show of solidarity with Major General Nuhu Angbazo (Rtd), reaffirming their support for his candidacy as the party awaits the outcome of the legal challenge.
