The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has reaffirmed the constitutional authority of its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, insisting that the dissolution of the Third Administration of its Directorate of State (DOS) was lawful, binding, and in accordance with the movement's Code of Conduct.
In a statement issued on Friday by IPOB spokesperson, Emma Powerful, the group described the Code of Conduct as the supreme governing instrument of the organization, stressing that no officer, department, coordinator, or administrative structure operates above its provisions.
According to the statement, the Directorate of State was established by Nnamdi Kanu as an administrative organ to oversee the day-to-day affairs of the movement and therefore derives its authority and legitimacy from the office of the IPOB leader and the organization's constitution.
The group maintained that the authority that created the Directorate of State also possesses the constitutional power to reform, restructure, or dissolve it when necessary.
Citing provisions of the IPOB Code of Conduct, the statement noted that the power to appoint, suspend, or dismiss principal officers rests exclusively with the movement's leader unless expressly delegated.
It argued that once such authority is exercised, affected officials are obligated to comply without resistance or review.
IPOB further stated that the tenure of the dissolved Third Administration effectively ended upon the announcement of its dissolution and that any continued claim to authority by former officials falls outside the constitutional framework of the movement.
The statement emphasized that appointments within IPOB are temporary, performance-based, and voluntary, adding that no officer acquires a permanent entitlement to any position within the organization.
The group also disclosed that a Fourth Administration of the Directorate of State, headed by Mazi Chris Nwaọgụ, has been duly constituted and is now fully operational.
IPOB directed all its structures worldwide to recognize and cooperate with the new administration, warning that any individual or group claiming authority under the dissolved Third Administration would be considered to be acting without constitutional backing and could face disciplinary measures.
The organization called on its members across the world to remain calm, disciplined, and committed to the movement's constitution and leadership, reiterating that adherence to the IPOB Code of Conduct remains paramount.
