Nasarawa North Bye-Election: Governor Sule Commends Smooth Voting Process, Hails Voter Turnout
Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, has described the ongoing Nasarawa North Senatorial Bye-Election as one of the most orderly, efficient and well-coordinated elections conducted in the state.
Speaking shortly after casting his vote at Gudi, Akwanga Local Government Area, Governor Sule expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise, particularly the performance of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and the timely deployment of election materials.
According to the governor, the voting process was seamless and completed within minutes.
“For me, this is the smoothest it has ever been.
From the moment I was captured by BVAS to the point where I cast my vote, it took only about three to five minutes.
Historically, this is the fastest election process I have witnessed,” he said.
Governor Sule also praised the early arrival of electoral materials, noting that materials reached polling units in Gudi around 8:00 a.m., while voting commenced between 8:15 and 8:30 a.m.
He described the exercise as one of the best-planned elections in recent times, adding that as a registered voter and citizen of the state, he was pleased to exercise his civic responsibility peacefully.
On voter turnout, the governor noted that participation across the senatorial district had been encouraging despite initial concerns that some residents might delay voting due to farming activities.
He explained that many voters had already cast their ballots and left polling centres before his arrival around 11:00 a.m., accounting for the relatively smaller crowd observed at the time.
Governor Sule disclosed that reports from several communities, including Andaha, Nunku, Agyaga, Ancho and Rinze, indicated impressive voter participation.
“The turnout has been wonderful. Information reaching us from various communities shows that people came out in large numbers to exercise their democratic rights,” he stated.
Responding to questions on whether the bye-election would serve as a political test for the ruling party ahead of future elections, Governor Sule dismissed such characterizations.
Rather than viewing the poll as a personal or political litmus test, he described it as an opportunity for the people of Nasarawa State to express appreciation for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the governing All Progressives Congress.
The governor maintained that the economic reforms introduced by the Federal Government had provided states with greater resources to implement development projects and improve the welfare of citizens.
“This election provides an opportunity for the people to say thank you to Mr. President, thank you to APC and thank you to the government for the work being done.
By the grace of God, we believe the outcome will reflect that appreciation,” Governor Sule added.
The Nasarawa North Senatorial Bye-Election is being closely monitored by political stakeholders and observers, with reports indicating peaceful conduct and compliance with electoral guidelines across the affected local government areas.
